A lot has happened in the past four years. There was a handful of great moments, but what I came to realize was that unless you’re Kylie Jenner, life is a toss up with constant struggles when you’re 20 something.
I have since lived in 5 different apartments. Uprooted to Chicago and now Portland with my cat, Luna from the place I grew up in Michigan.
I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree back in December of 2017 while living in Chicago. I was there a year post-graduation and was working as a server after experiencing for the first time what it was like to get screwed over by corporate. I have been on the hunt for that first real ‘job’ since, and because I was not tied down to the city, it made the decision to move across the county a risk worth taking.
Oh and there’s also Matt. My partner in this crazy life. We went from dating to not dating to dating long distance to now living together. I know it’s a lot, but in the end, we are here now and we have fought to get to where we are now, individually and as a couple.
I’m trying to find where I stand in society and unfolding my life path as I attempt to hold my relationships with my family and close friends who are now thousands of miles away. But even with the low lows, there are always those much-needed highs that remind you it will all be okay and through it all, it is a pretty exciting journey. The people I have met, the places that I have uncovered and the lessons I have learned all make it worth while.
I want this project to be a place where I reflect on discoveries, navigating relationships and the attempt to establish my career. Along the way I hope to connect with those fighting the same battles.
