I found myself needing just a black belt, truly an essential if you think about it. The problem was, there was little that sparked my interest. I mean it is a black belt. I wasn’t feeling the western inspired buckle or the basic black Gucci belt just about all fashionistas wear so proudly. I scrolled and searched through countless pages and then it clicked. This was the ultimate edgy and must-have item, and I was set on adding it to the wardrobe — a black double grommet belt if you want the technical term. There was a new level for the word “edgy” when we look back at the emergence of punk fashion in the ’70s that continued to trickle into the decades to come. I’m inspired by ’90s punk for this next one. Giving off an industrial look, it’s just the accessory to have when you’re looking to bring an outfit together and you need a belt.
Low-rise flare
This belt would look cool with a pair of low-rise flare denim. I would style with a crop tank and a leather jacket. For a more casual look, one could wear thong flip flops. And to dress it up a bit, opt for wedges or some strappy heels. Perfect for the casual day off to running errands or grabbing a drink with friends.
Skinny
If the low-rise flare is not your style, maybe a pair of classic skinny jeans will do the trick. Needing a belt with your favorite pair of skinny jeans, wheter that be distressed or classic blue, is the easiest way to try out this accessory. I would go for a black pair and a v-neck blouse or tank.
Cargo pants
This is a look that I have tried! With a pair of army green cargo pants this belt was the perfect accessory to cinch my waist and literally tie the outfit together. I paired this with a black long sleeve bodysuit. Some other suggestions: graphic tee or a muscle tank.
T-shirt dress
Depending on the style of the belt, it could be worn to give you a waistline with a shapeless dress like a t-shirt dress or sweater dress. This is the perfect opportunity to bring out those thigh-high boots.
