Deck Your Closet With These Holiday Trends

Cover Holiday 2

This time of year can be so exciting with all the decorations, gift buying and holiday parties. But when it comes to deciding on what to wear to your friend’s Christmas party or the holiday work party, that’s a different story. Do you choose to go all out with the sparkle or keep it simple and go cozy? If you need some inspiration on what to wear for Christmas or NYE, keep reading.

Let’s start with a fun trend — feathers. I came across the perfect black dress for a holiday evening party, featuring a strapless fit with feathers lining the neckline. I would pair this look with statement jeweled earring or for a simple pearl necklace.

Another trend that I LOVE and would go for is anything sheer, organza, or mesh. There is a lot of tops with organza sleeves, and more options if you go for a fully sheer top to layer with a fun print underneath. When it comes to dresses and this trend, it could be a mesh skirt overlay or again with the sheer shoulder/sleeve on the dress. And with this one could also try to find a shimmer fabric (made with metallic threading) to give it a little oomph for the holiday and away from the black.

Holidays scream anything that sparkles. Sequin had its moment but I think it has or is shifting more towards an embellished “bedazzled” look. But sequins are still a safe option. I would also try to go for something outside the all-black-winter ensemble and traditional holiday colors. For your next holiday get together, try a light blue or hot pink shade.

Now while there’s plenty of opportunities to dress up during this time of year, there is also a lot of holiday happenings that require a more subdued attire. So it’s time to get cozy with your favorite sweater. You can choose to keep it simple and pair it with jeans or soft flared pants like these. Or you can dress it up a bit. Personally, I would pair it with a leather skirt and maybe some black tights depending on where to. And again, another opportunity for the sheer trend. I just got these sheer black tights with a dot pattern from Target and it’s so easy to create different outfits with these two staples.

When it comes to accessories — strappy heels in metallic colors, like gold and silver, are essential for the season going into the new year. For bags, I would go for the feather trend or a small fuzzy clutch as a statement piece.HOLIDAY HEELS
