Award Season Red Carpet Winners

Oscars brought a close to 2019 – 2020 award season

Award Header

If I’m being honest, I don’t actually watch any of the award shows. Nominations can feel so off at times and the system is constantly being outed for inequality. This year, Da Baby was nominated for Best Rap Performance… I don’t know about that. I also don’t have cable. But that doesn’t stop me from looking forward to seeing who won afterwards and checking out what everyone wore.

Artists continue to put their best shoe forward and slay the carpet. Each show has a different feel and approach for styling and glam. I love seeing what celebrities and their stylists decided to go with, whether they played it safe or decided to be adventurous. Below are top looks from this award season —

The Golden Globes I will say had a lot more subdued looks with some statement touches. Renée Zellweger’s dress was simply elegant. It had minimal crystal detail in a lovely powder-blue color. Margot Robbie in Chanel was another simple smooth look that worked. Charlize Theron stood out in lime green and black Dior Haute Couture.

The Grammys are the music award show. You have many that choose to go classic, like Lizzo who looked stunning in an all-white, old school Hollywood look. Her dress was so well-fitting making her a top choice for best dressed. Or Arianna Grande who walked in like the princess she is, wearing a Giambattista Valli tulle ballgown paired with matching opera gloves.

But then you have those that chose to keep it fun and do something different; Billie Eilish, Lil Nas and Rosalía. Eilish is known for the way she dresses and making a statement against sexualizing women’s bodies. Being the night’s biggest winner of five Grammy’s, Billie Eilish absolutely killed it and was dripping in Gucci. Wearing her signature color slime green, Eilish was definitely in her element with personal style.

Let’s talk the Academy Award Oscars. With it being the final night, we see a lot of sparkle and drama. Gal Gadot wore an elegant lace dress with a pop of pink color. Janelle Monáe, Renée Zellweger, Brie Larson, and Kaitlyn Dever made different statements with embroidered sparkles. But in my opinion, Scarlett Johansson won the night’s best looks from the red carpet to the Vanity Fair After Party in Oscar De La Renta pairing champagne and metallics.

Now, it’s about the official after party the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. We see a lot of transformations happen but some that come in making a statement. Ciara looked amazing showing off her baby bump in a crystal sheer look with a fitted bodysuit. The crystal-embellishment look carried throughout the night including Kylie Jenner, Kate Beckinsale, and Adriana Lima. I loved Adriana Lima’s alternative look to the slit dress with her shoes. There were also statement pieces like Kerry Washington and Camila Mendes.

Overall, I think there were minimal wow moments in the shows above. There was some adventure in looks but also a lot of the same crystal-embellished looks which is a bit overdone after this. Now, we just wait and see what artists will wear late this summer as we head into another award season!
