Get creative with color combinations this sesason
July flew by! Does anyone else wish they could just sneak in two extra weeks in middle of the summer? Attempt to cross more of the ‘must do this summer‘ list. With fall just around the corner, embrace the remainder of the summertime and pass on neutrals.
Color blocking is a trend that was really prominent in 2011 and ten years later in 2021, the trend re-emerged and is all over Spring RTW 2021; Versace, Balmain, Miu Miu. And it continued in Resort 2021 with pairings of pastel lavender, green, pink and blues.
For me, going to the office (post-pandemic) became less dreadful by getting creative with this trend. Pairing different pieces already in your closet, giving you new outfits to try, and bringing items to a new life. Some color combinations to try:
Sunkissed / Orange, yellow, pink

Originally I had this color combination listed as ‘fire,’ so you get the idea. Bright orange and yellows are the perfect pairing for the summer. Also, the combination of orange and pink are really in. You could even switch up the pink and opt for a red if you are feeling a little bit bolder.
Primary / Red, blue, yellow

The pairing of primary colors is color blocking 101. Done right, it can give an electrifying pop of color. This color combination is easy to try with streetwear and athletic wear. And just in time for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games that started July 23.
Pastels / Lavender and green

You usually just think of color blocking and bold colors, but it also can be done in a more subtle approach by going with pastels. Intermixing lavender, baby pink, pastel blue, and green for a dreamy color-blocking moment.
Neon / Green, blue, pink

But if you want to stand out at the next summer event, pair highly saturated, neon pieces together. The sea-inspired SS21 Versace runway is an exceptional reference point for this bold styling.
Color blocking is not new, but it is a very playful trend that allows you to style certain items you may already have differently. There is no one way to conquer this trend. Don’t be afraid to try something new, you could surprise yourself with what you come up with!
