First Month Into 2022

It’s been awhile since my last update…

“The CDC released that if you are fully vaccinated a mask is not required,” Covid Fatigue and Changing Regulations, May 2021. Fast forward, 8 months later and we were just hit with a wave of a highly contagious and stronger strain. And even with being vaccinated, I tested positive the first week into the new year. Is it just me or do really bad things always happen in January?

We traveled to Chicago to see our parents and spend the New Year. Going out in the city, Chicago had similar regulations to Portland. Masks indoors, vaccine cards to get into a show, if you didn’t have a card, you had to wear your mask the whole time. The yoga studio I go to in Portland, announced that starting the first of February they were leveling up their game by requiring N95 masks. On the other side of the country, you have places like Michigan where masks never came back. And just a thought, how much of that is because the people pushed back?

It’s so crazy that we have essentially lost years of our lives to this pandemic. Everyone is eager to get back to living and return to normal. Like being able to see family. It’s been almost TWO years, “to see family and friends,” how crazy is that. Right now really feels like the time to shed that layer of negativity and focus on the opportunities tomorrow brings.

And with that, I am so excited to share a major life update!! I finally got THE job. It’s been about three months since I started and I absolutely love it. I’m working for a public relations agency that specializes in high tech. Working in tech was something I didn’t realize I wanted… and honestly, rejection is what led me to realize this calling. The journey getting here was not easy but all it took was for one person to say yes.

There was something different about this time, I was on fire to make it happen. I joined the Great Resignation, not knowing, and I quit my job with nothing lined up… A whole story for another day.

There was something Bethenny Frankel said in her podcast that stuck with me while I was on this recent job hunt, along the lines of “from someone that has made it here, you just need to make it to the other side.” The determination to just keep going and make it to the other side. I could feel it.

My boyfriend also had a major turn in his career and is finally able to live his best life doing lights on tour. Being in a long-distance relationship is not new for us but it is new after spending just about every day together. Also taking care of Leo on my own has been an adjustment.

My focus moving forward is to continue slaying at my new job and finding a routine. Finding one that feels balanced and works for me, especially in the mornings. There is something so sacred about the morning, it sets the intention for the day ahead. And with the days slowly getting longer each day, that only mean sunnier days and spring fashion are coming.
