Here are 5 staples to have in your fall wardrobe
There’s no better feeling once the temperature drops than pulling out that favorite sweater that’s been stored away. A lot of the go-to pieces for fall outfits may already be in your closet, here’s a checklist for five staples to add to your rotation this season. Starting off with the color of the season: Pantone Classic Green. This is a trend that is a bit untraditional for fall because it’s bright. And it’s a great way to mix in a pop of color. A classic green button-down that can be styled in so many ways paired with loose boyfriend jeans. Or a loose trouser in the crisp classic green to pair with a neutral top half.
Maybe you pair those trousers with a graphic tee. Having a handful of graphic tees is a must. It gives you the chance to add a bit of an edge to an outfit, even dressing down an outfit when needed. The options are truly endless with graphic t-shirts and one that can be thrifted.

I’ve said it before but shopping for a new wardrobe does not have to be groundbreaking off the runway items, it’s about adding those reliable staples that fit your style and how you pair them to make your outfits on trend. Like having a fresh pair of black tights, we all know that you’re lucky if you make it through the evening without catching a snag on a pair so it never hurts to get new ones. Tights are an easy way to transition an outfit from summer to fall. I’m looking forward to styling them with a pair of knee-high boots, some sort of faux leather bottom maybe a skirt or shorts with a classic knit sweater.
Aside from lug-soled shoes being a top pick for the season, ballet flats have made a comeback. It has been years since I have shopped for flats that were not loafers, but finding the perfect pair of mary jane flats is a must right now. Depending on how balletcore you’re feeling, you could go for a traditional ballerina flat with a tiny bow like these from Nordstrom or you could opt for a minimalist pointed toe flat like these from Target.
You could not find me in something other than heels going to the office when I lived in Chicago, and this got me thinking — Are people wearing heels in the city post-pandemic?

A reliable trench coat is where I will leave you with essentials to have in your wardrobe for this season. The trench is truly an icon on its own, and one could make the argument for it year round. This transitional piece is worth the splurge. An oversized drape style or a sweater trench in a shade of camel will flawlessly pair with most outfits. Adding this to any outfit will make you feel put together and fashionable, even if it’s a trip to the grocery store.
